Privacy policy

The short version

NuFav is local-first. You don't need an account. Your collection, ratings, tier lists, and virtual-pet progress live on your device. We don't sell your data, and we don't collect your name, email, or contacts.

What stays on your device

The following never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it:

• Which flavors you've tried or marked want to try
• Your ratings and ranking
• Your tier lists
• Your NuNu virtual-pet care history, streaks, and unlocked outfits
• Onboarding preferences and app settings

This is stored in the app's local storage. Deleting the app, or using Settings, Reset my data, removes it.

What we fetch

Flavor catalog: the app downloads the public flavor catalog from our backend (Supabase). This is a read-only download and includes no personal data.

Features that send data

To use the referral (Invite) feature or, where enabled, community rankings, the app creates an anonymous identity (anonymous authentication, with no name or email). What each feature stores:

• Referrals (Invite tab): if you enter a friend's invite code, we record a referral so your friend can earn purely cosmetic, never-sold rewards. You receive nothing tangible for this. We store: an anonymous user id for you and your referrer, the code, and, as a fraud-prevention signal only, a one-way hash of a randomly generated per-install id and a one-way hash of your IP address. We do not store your raw IP address or any device identifier, and these signals are never used to hard-block anyone. Your own invite code and a count of how many friends have joined are the only referral data shown back to you; you never see another person's identity.
• Community rankings (optional, off unless enabled in your build): if enabled, your rating can contribute to aggregate community scores. We store an anonymous user id, the flavor id, and your 1 to 5 rating. Aggregates shown in the app expose only averages and counts, never individual identities.
• Drop alerts (if added): if you opt in to push notifications, your device's push token is stored so we can notify you about new flavors. You can disable notifications at any time in your OS settings.
• Analytics (if added): anonymous, aggregated usage events (for example, completed onboarding, rated a flavor) to understand activation and retention. No personally identifying information is collected.

If a feature above is not enabled in your version of the app, none of its data is collected.

Sharing

When you create a share card, the image is generated on your device and handed to your OS share sheet. You choose where it goes; NuFav does not upload it anywhere.

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell or rent your data.
• We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, or precise location.
• We do not show third-party ads.

Data retention & deletion

• Local data persists until you reset it (Settings) or uninstall the app.
• If you used the referral or community features and want your contributed data (referral records or ratings) removed, email us at the address below. Because the identity is anonymous, please include enough detail (for example, your invite code) for us to locate the records, and we will delete them.

Children

NuFav is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy as features ship. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
